Abstract

Sustainable construction has become an urgent priority in the building engineering sector, as environmental issues and resource efficiency demand innovative solutions. Vocational high schools (SMK) that focus on building engineering must prepare students not only with technical skills but also with knowledge of sustainable practices. This study aims to systematically review research on the integration of green construction and sustainable education in vocational schools. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach, studies from 2015 to 2025 were collected from databases such as Scopus, ERIC, and Google Scholar. The findings indicate that incorporating sustainable practices into building engineering education enhances students’ awareness of environmental issues, develops eco-friendly technical skills, and promotes industry-relevant competencies. However, the review also identifies significant challenges, including limited resources, outdated curricula, and lack of teacher readiness in sustainability topics. Collaboration with industry partners and government policies play a vital role in supporting the adoption of sustainable construction education. This review contributes to the development of a framework that can align vocational education with global trends in green construction. It also highlights the importance of integrating sustainability into curricula to ensure that future graduates can contribute to environmentally responsible building practices
